Better Leadership Academy Cohort (BLAC)
BLAC’s Leadership Academy is a transformative 4-part program designed to empower emerging Black leaders and early professionals (typically ages 22-30) committed to cultural empowerment, leadership development, and strengthening Black communities. Participants receive coaching from top African American leaders, cultural empowerment, leadership training, free mental health support, and career placement opportunities. BLAC is cultivating a new generation of diverse, empowered leaders dedicated to advancing their communities and shaping a brighter, more inclusive future.
This $1,540 program is made accessible to participants through sponsored seats, provided by the generous support of our local partners. Apply now to see if you qualify to participate at no cost.
Eligibility:
Residence: Applicants must reside in San Diego county.
Black Background: The program is specifically targeted towards individuals who identify with the Black community or individuals committed to progressing the Black community.
Commitment to Community: Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to the betterment of the Black community in San Diego County.
Leadership Potential: Participants should exhibit leadership potential and a desire to make a positive impact within their community.
Topics Discussed:
Week 1: Cultural Empowerment
Understanding the importance of cultural identity in leadership.
Exploring the history and contributions of Black and minority communities.
Building pride and confidence through cultural empowerment and awareness.
Applying cultural insights to foster inclusivity and community advancement.
Week 2: Leadership Development
Identifying personal leadership styles and strengths.
Developing decision-making, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Leading with empathy and emotional intelligence.
Learning how to inspire, mentor, and empower others in the community.
Week 3: Financial Management
Mastering personal finance, budgeting, and financial planning.
Understanding investments, credit, and debt management.
Exploring the basics of entrepreneurship and business finance.
Applying financial literacy to build wealth and economic empowerment.
Week 4: Essential Professional Skills
Mastering effective communication in professional settings.
Building strong resumes, cover letters, and preparing for job interviews.
Developing teamwork, time management, and workplace etiquette.
Practicing public speaking, negotiation, and networking skills.
Application:
Participants must be able to commit to the 4-week program, which entails attending weekly in-person sessions and regularly completing assignments, each session lasts approximately 2.5 hours long.

TUITION:
Tuition is $1,540 and is payable upon acceptance into the program. Tuition is non-refundable.
